Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
At Birthkind, your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal information I collect when you visit this website or book a course, how I use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
1. Who I am
Birthkind is run by India, a qualified midwife based in Cirencester. I am the data controller for the personal information collected through this website and my courses. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Contact: info@birthkind.co.uk
2. What information I collect
I collect the following information when you use this website, make an enquiry, or book a course:
• Your name
• Email address
• Phone number (if you choose to provide it)
• Booking details — including the course selected and your due date
• Any additional information you voluntarily share in forms or messages
I only collect information that is necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
3. Legal basis for processing
Under UK GDPR, I must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. I rely on the following:
• Contract performance — processing your booking and delivering the course you have signed up for.
• Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries and communicating relevant course information.
I do not rely on your consent as a basis for processing, so you will not be asked to tick a consent box for routine bookings. However, if I ever wish to use your information for a new purpose (such as a newsletter), I will ask for your explicit consent at that point.
4. How I use your information
Your information is used only for the following purposes:
• Managing and confirming your course booking
• Communicating with you about your booking, including any changes or cancellations
• Responding to enquiries you send me
• Providing relevant information before or during your course
I will not use your data for unrelated purposes, and I will never use it for marketing without your explicit consent.
5. How your information is stored
Your information is stored using the following trusted platforms, each of which has its own security measures and privacy policy:
• Squarespace — website hosting, booking forms, and payment processing
• Squarespace Payments / Stripe — secure handling of card payments
• Google Workspace — secure cloud storage for booking records and business administration
All platforms used are reputable providers with appropriate data protection safeguards in place. Some data may be stored on servers outside the UK; where this is the case, those providers maintain equivalent protections under UK GDPR adequacy arrangements.
6. Sharing your information
I do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Your information may be shared only in the following limited circumstances:
• With payment processors (Squarespace Payments / Stripe) solely to complete your transaction
• With platform providers (such as Squarespace and Google) as part of the technical delivery of services — these are data processors acting on my instructions
• If required by law or a regulatory authority. How long I keep your information
I will keep your personal information for up to one year after your course has taken place. After this period, your data will be securely deleted.
If you make an enquiry but do not go on to book a course, I will delete your information within three months of our last contact.
7. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
• Right of access — you can request a copy of the information I hold about you
• Right to rectification — you can ask me to correct inaccurate information
• Right to erasure — you can ask me to delete your data where there is no longer a lawful reason to hold it
• Right to restrict processing — you can ask me to limit how I use your data in certain circumstances
• Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at info@birthkind.co.uk. I will respond within one month as required by law.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.7.
